There is no such thing as the best ammo type. However, I have found that rapid N2 lbg feels much better than in World and I have also heard that pierce has some good LBG options. Nargacuga is in the game, so that will be a solid pick. I've not tried sticky or ele gunning yet, but I plan on making sets for them to see how it feels in Rise.

Oh no Malzeno should also be RF p2, unless I was so taken that I didn't notice for the bunch of quests I used it before moving to Shagaru's. It’s the opposite. Malzeno LBG ONLY shoots RF Pierce 2 and like, nothing else. Try out the shag Magola LBG. 315 raw, 35% affinity RF pierce 2, along with sticky 2, and sleep.
Rapid fire Spread 2 does the same damage as a single shot of spread 3, but it takes longer to shoot, so that's why people would just say single fire magna lbg. If you must use RF S2, I suppose jyura is the best option.
