Aug 20, 2020 · No. 2005 Honda Acord is currently stuck in neutral, the button on the gear shift broke off and the inside disingrated. The car will only shift into N and D and the key remains stuck in the ignition since we can not get the car in park. We tried pressing the shift release button with a screwdriver and the car will not shift out of D or N still. Pry up the square and there is a release mechanism to manually release the solenoid. It should be covered in your owners manual how to override it. I think to replace it you need to take apart the shifter trim. SOURCE: car wont shift out of park without neutral safety. At first I thought it was the Immobilizer System but that indicates it will not start. It appears to be something related with security system. Everthing works and I will have to try to call the dealer tomorrow.
