I called my local HD dealer to ask how much it would cost to perform a cam swap and dyno. They quoted me 10 hours of labor @ $100/hr, plus 3 hours for the dyno - $1,300 total. I called two other dealers and one quoted 6 hours and the other one quoted 4-5 hours. Evo FXR drivelines have a lot of weak links in them. They were great for 35-hp Shovels in 1982 when they came into production, but when you’re making more than 100 ponies, the motor doesn’t want to stay attached to anything. I figured a Twin Cam swap would take care of most of those weak links in the driveline.

Find a good running motor trans and primary. (The whole motor) 2. I had to cut down the rear motor mounts by 1/8"each. Or if you have the ones from the 96" bike swap them. Fronts worked with no mods. 3. Swap plugs on the stator and transmission. From 96 to 88. I cut them off used crimps and shrink tubing. 4.Get a 06-12 transmission bracket.
