they have officially switched over to the new system statewide, and unpatched the old smartzone. there are MANY new talkgroups on this system including ones for regional dispatch centers. Guess I have to finally get a P2 scanner because I hear nothing on the smartzone anymore

As of now, it looks like only certain TGs like Police and Fire are being carried on both Stamford and CLMRN system, and the others are only being carried on the Stamford "Site". Stamford had a TON of TGs on the old system, and it seems that most of those won't be allowed to roam onto the CLMRN...

There is no way to be sure of where beyond a local site where you may hear something. I've only heard them a few times - mostly during storms. VERY rarely and obviously patched. I'm not sure why anyone would want to monitor them. Depending on when you last monitored the system, there were changes made several years ago that make the scanner you are using much less effective on P25 Phase 2 systems such as CLMRN. I wouldn't spend a bunch of time making custom files until you are confident that you will be able to hear it properly.

Not sure what site you guys are seeing Hartford on CLMRN but beyond testing a short lived patch several years ago, they are not on it. Talkgroups 164xx had some brief activity back in July but not since. That is monitoring both Hartford standalone & Troop H Sites. HPD patrol is still analog EDACS with some ProVoice for special units.
