I’m in Italy now for 11+ weeks; I’m also an Xfinity mobile customer (great plan for the US!) and I’m doing exactly what Joe T describes: an eSIM for data, and WiFi, FaceTime and WhatsApp for phone calls. Way less expensive than the Xfinity global plan option of $10/day.
