The Python used the E/ I frame with a leaf mainspring while the Boa was the less costly and easier to make coil mainspring design . All in all a good idea and one that Colt should hve repeated . As the Pythons rose in cost , they should have capitalized on the Python look by putting the vent rib barrel on the King Cobra.
When I purchased a new Cobra in February of 2018 I inspected two Cobra revolvers new in the box at my local gun store, they both had dings. The original King Cobra was a heavy medium frame and cylinder model about the same size and weight as the S&W "L" frame. The New King Cobra is basically a redesigned size version of the Colt Detective Special or Diamondback. The frame is about the same size as the S&W "K" frame and the Colt and S&W "K" frame cylinders are the same diameter.It's even beefier than my GP-100. I do not see any world where the 6" Python is a viable carry gun for most users. That said, it's not like the King Cobra Target is going to fall apart. I've said this before around here, but the KCT is actually a better replacement for the 4" Diamondback of old as opposed to the King Cobra of old.
