It really depends - you could use occult affinity and use the ash of war called seppuku (which adds a large amount of bleed buildup to the weapon) occasionally, or you could just set the weapon to blood affinity and save yourself the hassle of buffing it all the time (but have a lower AR). It's a personal choice based on your playstyle.
It also leaves residual black flames in default attacks and you can use the fire scorpion talisman to boost both your melee and black flame spells. Godslayer is also great for PvE, but the peeler is better at pvp. If you want a dex build go for peeler, but for strength and better ability go for the Great sword.
