Historical collecting – This type of collecting is a hybrid of hobby, collectible and antique collecting. It involves collecting items of historical significance – like items from the Civil War – and its motivations vary. Family heirlooms – Collecting items that were owned by ancestors is very different from any other type of collecting. .
