FTM here! Just got my stretch and sweep done. I’m 38+3 today. When I went in I was 3cm dilated, and they stretched me to 4cm. They also told me I’m 50%…Having a cervix that is 1 cm open means it could stay that way for quite a while, or you could go into labor tomorrow. It’s definitely not a predictor of things. Apr 18, 2018 · Just that when labor does come, maybe it won't be as long. I was dilated 3cm with my son at 36 weeks and he was born after my water broke at 39.5 days. With my daughter I was also 3cm at 36 and my water broke/she was born at 38 weeks. It’s crazy how it all depends on when baby is ready! Good luck mamas :) A sweep really is only going to do something if your body just needs a small nudge...and that's unlikely at 38 weeks. Plus if you aren't needing to be induced immediately it makes no sense to try to get things going. Getting a sweep at 38 weeks is not unheard of. In fact, it's a lot more common than you think.L. You will still be a little far from delivery given that, for labor to occur, you must have 10 centimeters of dilation and 100 percent effacement. I know that you can be dilated 1.5 cm and go into labour the next day just the same that you can be dilated 1.5cm and still go another 4 weeks lol everyone is different but just wondering what your experience was :) Haven't had any contractions either!
