Mathews phase 4 vs hoyt vtm.

I will say the Hoyt's DL felt short on both the 30 and 33 in comparison to the Mathews. I was surprised that the longer ata Hoyt draw cycle wasnt as linear as the 30. It had a small dump into the valley similar to the Mathews. The Hoyt 33 also had just a slight buzz in the palm of my hand and it wasnt as quiet as the 30 or the V3X.

I went into my local shop and shot the Phase 4 29/33 and the VTM 31. The draw cycle seemed a touch better on the VTM but the back wall and hold felt incredible on the Phase 4's. I bumped up from 60# to 70# so I didn't hold the draw cycle of the Mathews against it.

The 2023 Mathews Phase 4 33 is the quietest Mathews, with the least vibration, that I’ve ever tested. It’s almost identical to the 2022 V3X 33, which I deemed last year to be the nicest compound bow I’d ever shot, except this year’s model has two key improvements. However if you bought a Ventum Pro used I don’t think you’d miss a ton if you wanted to save a little. While the VTM has only minor changes compared to the Ventum Pro… you don’t have a Ventum Pro so it’s all new to you. I’m going to finally ...

I have a V3X 33 and a couple year old RX4 Ultra Hoyt carbon bow (not a Ventum but its a Hoyt). They both are nice. The grip, for me, is superior on the Hoyt. The Mathews is quieter and less felt vibe. The Mathews seems more finicky with right and left misses (seems more torque sensitive). Both have decent draw cycles. Mathews is …

So it ultimately came down to the features and the longgggg riser of the Phase 4 33. I already have a dovetail rest and that worked better with the Mathews. The Mathews was shooting at 307 fps vs 296 from the Hoyt (!). I was so impressed by the draw cycle vs. speed from the Mathews. Then you consider the riser length of the Mathews (33.5" vs. 31" from the Hoyt) and the weight (4.25 lbs. vs. 4.5 lbs. from the Hoyt) and the reflex (1.5" on the Mathews vs. 1.75" on the Hoyt)...

Tie. Quivers: Mathews has a new quiver that is close to the riser. Hoyt has a similar option but is adjustable to help balance the bow to the shooters preference. If I had to choose a winner here, it'd be Hoyt. Hoyt has the lower mounted stab, which is a great feature. Ventum has shims, which I despise.

The consensus is that the Mathews is 3-5 fps faster than the Hoyt. Lift 33. Where do I start. The draw is light years better in my mind than the previous few years of Mathews with SW cams. The bow has only a quick bump in the grip at the shot, with no detectable vibration.
