Super Nova takes 3 1/2" shells, the 590 only goes to 3". The SV has long barrels, the 590 only takes shorter barrels. So if you wanted to hammer long range birds, the SV has the edge. It also has a smoother action. However, the 590 is built like a tank and has a much better safety for left hand use.
Is there a Walmart near you? They usually have the Mossberg 500s for $227. I prefer the Nova over the 500 because it is virtually indestructable. $250 for a used Nova is a bit much.
