What I have seen so far is cleaned up magazines with traces of corrosion, then parkerized. In no way attractive. I have been told the parkerized magazines were intented for troops in South East Asia. The stake marks are evidence of an adjustable rear sight being installed, but that would have been later. For what it is worth Ruth's Carbine owner's guide has an estimated or approximate manufacture date window of Oct-Dec 1943 for serial range 4075000- 4180000. Knows rear sights!
