It sounds like you are describing some sensor issues that occur when the the Jeep switches to closed loop operation. Test the O2 sensors, they can get old and slow to react. Typical O2 sensor service life is about 100,000-150,000 miles. Replace the coolant temperature sensor on the thermostat housing.

The temp gauge on your dash is just an implied temp, not an actual reading. Your EVIC should show actual coolant temps. But to answer your question; yes, the 3.6 runs hot. Apparently that is where it is most efficient and happy.

The jeep isn't running hot at all. The temp needle never gets past half or even up to half way. When I start the jeep the fan is not on.Yes it does ope at 206 and can to up to 236. I am about to order a cold on for my 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited. I know they say it could hurt performance, that is bull because mine runs lot better when it is cold. It is currently out of warranty. Last year the Jeep overheated pretty good, starting off as a little higher than normal and then over a few months going to 3/4 temp.
