If you know how to jump the starter solonoid (just make sure all of the tractor shifters in neutral so you don't get yourself run over) and the tractor turns over, that will rule out the battery and battery connection problems.To check out your idea that the non-crank problem is your trans neutral switch, unplug the switch electrical connector and put a jumper wire across the plug connectors (on the engine side) and see if it will crank. The shifter detent feels good in forward neutral and reverse but reverse acts just like neutral. Removed the block from top of transmission and the shift rod was engaged with the fork also no metallic flake in oil.
